This is great.
“This project was designed as a promotional piece to be included in my mailers after I graduated, as well as a semester-long project for an independent study class.  I picked several different people who were murdered for their beliefs and arranged the quotes so they read as a sort of narrative about standing up for what you believe in.  The idea more or less just came to me one night as I was about to fall asleep, but it also served as good way to work on my portraits.  This was the first book I’ve ever made and also the first time I’ve printed on both sides of a page.  The whole project was a challenge and I can’t even count the lessons I learned.  The next time I make a book, I’ll certainly set it up differently from the start and hopefully cut the production time in half.  Pulling so many layers was also an invaluable experience because I feel like from start to finish my technique improved drastically.”
